Boy Scout & Webelos STEM & NOVA badge event

Hello Scouts and Scouters in ALL AREAS,

Save the date!

The Bill Hart District STEM committee would like to let you know about an upcoming Boy Scout & Webelos STEM & NOVA badge event at Six Flags Magic Mountain on November 17th and 18th 2017.

The event will consist of a Friday night campout in the park that includes a private behind the scenes tour and ride of three roller coasters on Saturday morning to really see how STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) make roller coasters and thrill rides work.

Final details and agenda are being worked out, but we plan on having the WLACC STEM trailer there demonstrating technologies such as 3D printing and expect to offer STEM-based merit badge workshops as well as NOVA badge sessions to help scouts earn the NOVA badge or additional pi pins. Space will be limited to a maximum of 175 participants.

Ticket cost is being finalized, but expected to be on the order of $70 per person (even for season pass holders). Note that the cost of the package from Six Flags covers all day park admission in Saturday, the private tour, and meals and is the which is why season pass holders must still buy an event ticket.

We hope you will pass along this opportunity to your scouts and consider adding this to your troop’s or crew’s calendar. Look for more details in the future as plans get finalized, but please contact Chuck Seal (  if your unit or scouts are interested or if you have any questions. You can reserve your spots now via

To make managing this easier a single POC from each unit is requested to coordinate participation.

Yours in Scouting,

Chuck Seal
