Was there a King
Arthur? Was there a Camelot? Was there a Roundtable? There are three
questions that may never be answered fully, but today we can say in
our day there is at least a Roundtable! Scouting used the mythical
Roundtable using the same mode used in days of yore. At the
Roundtable, no one sat at the head of the table, not even the king.
All were equal to sit and make comments and ask questions and add to
the conversation. In our Roundtable,
we welcome all Scouters involved in the program from Tiger Cubs
through Venturing. We have five breakout
sections currently: One for Den Leaders, One for Cubmasters and
Committee chairmen, One for Webelos Leaders, One for Scouting and
Varsity Leaders, and one for Venturing Leaders. The Antelope
Valley District Roundtable is held oil the first Tuesday of each
month at 7:30 pm at the LDS Church at 750 East Avenue J in
Lancaster. We welcome all to attend. There is a mountain of
information available, discussed and material handed out. We have a
fair attendance, but feel our numbers should double to adequately
reach the Scouters of the Antelope Valley. What makes a Roundtable
successful is the assimilation of new people into the District. We
can offer some New Leader training and other specialized training
when needed. You will find out about District and Council events.
And most important you will make yourself known to other fellow
Scouters. We should be seeing many more of LDS leaders than we do.
Cub Scout topics are presented in official monthly themes. Boy Scout topics and Venturing discussions are pretty much decided on by those attending. Those leading the discussions have had years of rich experience going over this material. We ask you to
seriously consider attending our Roundtables. They occur only once a
month, but what you take home can affect the lives of the youth you
influence for a lifetime. We remain your servants in Scouting. The breakout sessions for the Antelope Valley District Roundtable are as follows.
Roundtable
Questionnaire (24 KB PDF file). Please
help us to keep Scouting growing in our area. We need your constructive
criticism.
