CAMP
EMERALD BAY
Emerald Bay is located on Catalina Island, some 26
miles off of the Southern California coast. Nestled in the West
End of the Island, this 88 acre camp tender's some of the best
ocean camping at any Boy Scout Camp. In addition to the premiere
Snorkeling, Kayaking, and Canoeing. Emerald Bay offers programs
in Scoutcraft, Nature, Field sports, Handicraft, and High Adventure.
During the summer months the camp is the location of a fully operational
summer camp. Reservations are accepted for the off season - March
through May and September through November.
Facilities:
at the camp include 16 campsites of various sizes and 14 cabins
sleeping 8 persons per cabin (bunks with mattresses provided).
There are flush toilets, kybos, open-air showers and a 400 person
capacity dinning hall. There is an Archery and Rifle/Shotgun Range
(qualified supervision is required). A campfire circle with amphitheater
is available. Opportunities for Hiking and Backpacking.
Camping: from the beginning of June
through the beginning of September the camp is reserved as a summer
camp (Reservations are taken in September for the following year.
Get your reservations in early because it fills up fast!). During
the rest of the season camp is available for all groups to enjoy.
High Adventure - Canoe Catalina:
Take an incredible 5 day adventure paddling around the beautiful
and rugged coast of Catalina Island. Spend nights under the stars
and the days Snorkeling, Canoeing and Hiking the interior. If
you are lucky you might see Bison, a Bald Eagle, Flying Fish,
Dolphins, Seals and Sea Lions.
This program is set up for Scouts 14 years and older who are looking
to canoe more than 50 miles. Scouts and earn the 50 Miler Award.
CAMP
WHITSETT
Camp Whitsett
Home Site
Camp Whitsett is located in the rugged Kern River Country
about 90 miles northeast of Bakersfield, 25 miles north of Lake
Isabella. This 80 acre camp is nestled in the beautiful Sequoia
National Monument. The camp is situated at 4300' and provides
great outdoor adventure and the opportunity to organize activities
in the area of Nature, Scoutcraft, Aquatics, Handicraft, Rock
Climbing and Project C.O.P.E. (Challenging Outdoor Program Experience).
During the summer months Camp Whitsett is the location of a fully
operational Boy Scout Resident Camp. Reservations are accepted
for the off season April through mid June and September through
November.
Facilities: at the camp include 19
campsites of various sizes, all having kybos and showers facilities
conveniently located. There is an Archery and a Rifle/Shotgun
Range (qualified supervision is required). A campfire circle with
amphitheater is available. Lake Ida is filled from Memorial Day
until the end of summer. Canoes and Kayaks are available and White
Water Rafting is available nearby on the Kern River. Opportunities
for Hiking, Backpacking and Rock Climbing.

the season the camp is available for all groups to enjoy.
High Adventure - Whitsett Sierra:
Adventure at it's best. You and your crew can embark on a challenge
that will be a Scouting memory to last a lifetime. Your trek will
take you through majestic stands of 2,000 year old Giant Sequoias,
ridges high above timberline with peaks towering above 14,000
feet and streams, filled with fish, that flow through Golden Trout
Wilderness.
Two programs are offered; the High Sierra Trek and the High Adventure.
All Scouts must be 14 years old or older. The High Adventure program
will consist of 3 days of Backpacking, 1 day of White Water rafting,
1 day of Mountain Biking and 2 days of Rock Climbing. The High
Sierra Trek program includes 5 days of Backpacking and 2 days
of Rock Climbing. CAMP
JOSEPHO
Camp Josepho is hidden away in Rustic Canyon of the
Santa Monica Mountains near the beaches of the Pacific Palisades
and Malibu. You would never know that Los Angeles could have a
camp so close and yet feel so remote. Access is just off the 405
(San Diego) Freeway at Sunset Boulevard near the towns Brentwood
and Santa Monica. The camp offers a traditional camp setting of
years gone by featuring the Malibu Lodge, seat of the Order of
the Arrow, and cow trails that follow the old creek bed to 16
campsites stretching through the canyon wilderness.
Facilities: The 16 campsites are
supported by flush toilets and hot showers at the Olympic size
Swimming Pool. Separate Range for BB shooting, Rifle and Archery
and an outdoor setting for Campfires, Nature and Scoutcraft. There
are plenty of trails for Hiking and Biking in the Santa Monica's.
Camping: There are many opportunities
for all age groups to enjoy organized Scout Camping from the new
Boy Scout, Webelos and Cub Scout Resident Camps to Junior Leader
Training Conferences, and other weekend events. PARDEE
SCOUT SEA BASE
One of the most unique facilities meeting the needs of Youth
Groups. The base has become a center for outstanding and diverse
programs ranging from harbor cruises, overnight camping and conducting
Sea Camps to being a meeting place for local and regional conferences
and seminars. The unique location in Marina del Ray near Burton
Chase Park has made it a stand out in Los Angeles.
Group
Boating: The
Sea Base currently has the following equipment - Paddle Boats,
Sailboats big and small, Kayaks, Rowboats, Canoes and Motorboats.
The Sea Base is dedicated to giving all organized youth groups
a better understanding of the ocean and it's multiple uses. As
a recreational base Scouts will have the chance to find out how
much fun the ocean can be.
Group Instruction: The Sea Base offers
a wide variety of instruction in the following areas - Boat Safety,
Rowing, Canoeing, Motor boating, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Basic Sailing
and Advanced Sailing.
Group Meeting and Parties: The facility
has 4 meeting rooms and can accommodate 100 people making it the
perfect place for - Meeting, Roundtables. Campaign Kick-offs,
Recognition Events, Training, Receptions and Seminars. CAMP
WOLVERTON
Camp
Wolverton is a base camp located three miles from the world famous
Giant Forest of Giant Sequoias and two miles from the Lodge pole
Visitor Center in the Sequoia National Monument at an elevation
of 7200'. Allow at least 5 hours of driving time from San Fernando
Valley. Plan to arrive before dark. Wolverton is a primitive camp
with no electricity or RV hookups. A camp market and snack bar
is located at nearby Lodge pole Campground.
Program: Troops use Wolverton in
a variety of ways. Most use it as a base camp prior to leaving
on a long-term hike. They usually spend a night or two in camp
and head out on one of the many hiking trails. Camp is a quarter
mile from most trail heads. Others spend an entire week in Camp
and set up their own summer camp. Such troops use their adult
and boy leaders to provide in-camp programs and the "Park
Service Ranger Walks" to compliment the troop's program.
